About Mind Feed
What exactly is MindFeed?
MindFeed is a next generation social network that allows you to find out more about yourself, your friends and even people you do not know but are somehow linked to you in your every day life.
Next time you take a walk to the shops consciously look out for people you have seen before. You may be surprised that you bump into the same people time and time again. We are creatures of habit and enjoy sticking to routines, but we do so on a subconscious level. Perhaps you have a secret admirer who meets you in the supermarket every week? If you are a busy individual you may miss the connections that are going on all around you. Think that for every time you bump into someone you do know there may have been just as many times when someone you know was only around the corner. Also it is sometimes hard to keep track of all the people you meet in a day.
Why not let MindFeed scan for people as you walk around? Later you can login to the MindFeed website to review your days events. You will spot patterns and discover many hidden secrets about yourself and others. All this will be stored in your personal archive for you to look back on. As you record more data, new possibilities open up as to what you can find out about yourself and others.

Why was MindFeed created?
MindFeed was created by Jason Mayes as part of the final year project of his Computer Science degree. His specialised reasearch area was "Reality mining using mobile devices and pseudonymous social networks". MindFeed is an implementation of such a project that integrates seamlessly with our everyday lives bringing together the concept of "invisible computing" with social networking and reality mining. The idea is to obtain potentially useful information from areas in our lives that we may not at first thought think to look, or difficult for us as humans to keep track of.
He wanted to create a system that was easy to use and required as much or as little interaction as the user desired. Interacting with a small screen while on the move is undesirable. An ideal system would operate autonomously in a pocket or bag and allow collected information to be reviewed at a convenient time.
We spend lots of money on the latest trendy phones or PDAs, yet most of the time they are sitting in our pockets doing nothing. Why not make them perform useful work for us when we are not using them? MindFeed makes use of your device constantly to ensure its potential is not being wasted.
